この度は、カナダの子どもたちからの心のこもった応援メッセージありがとうございました。
震災からの時間がたつにつれて、現実とは思えない被害の大きさや、停電、食料、水、ガソリンの不足、放射能の脅威など、先の見えない日々に絶望的な気持ちになりました。
そのような中、全国、更には国境を越えた支援の手を差し伸べていただき、落ちかけていた気力を取り戻すことができました。
カナダの子どもたちの心のこもった応援メッシージを読ませていただくと、万感胸の詰まる思いを抱くとともに、一日も早い復興を成し遂げ、その姿を世界に発信し、思いに応えなくてはならないと、強い責任を感じずにはいられません。

Thank you very much for the heartfelt and encouraging Canadian kids messages. As time passed, the extent of damage, power failure, shortage of food, water and gas, the fear of radioactivity had made us hopeless. What has made us regain our vigor is the assistance given by the people from all over the country and overseas. Since the messages from the Canadian kids moved us deeply, we have come to think it our responsibility that we should succeed in rebuilding our district as soon as possible and send a message to show our district completely recovered to the rest of the world.

３、１１東日本大震災から一年が過ぎました。
久之浜、大久地区は、いわき市の中でも地震・津波の被害、原子力発電所事故による放射能の影響を大きく受けた地区です。街の復旧・復興に向け、一生懸命に取り組んでいるところですが、日本全国を初め海外からも温かい励ましやご支援をいただき大変勇気づけられております。
この度は、心のこもったメッセージをいただきありがとうございました。

It has been one year since March 11. Hisanohama and Ohisa are one of the areas which were affected most by the earthquake, the tsunami and radioactivity caused by the nuclear accident. We have been encouraged by the support from all over the country and overseas to gain energy for rebuilding the areas. Thank you so much for the heartfelt messages from the Canadian kids.

いち早く、適格に、久之浜の復興を皆さんの力添えをいただきながら進めたいと思っています。
私事になりますが、新婚旅行でカナダを訪れました。
バンクーバー、バンフ、カルガリー、トロントと今でも自然豊かで美しい光景が心に甦ってきます。もう23年も前の話ですが、、、
久之浜の復興が一段落したら、町に賑わいが戻ったら、もう一度、カナダに行ってみたいと思っています。妻と二人で

It has passed one year since the great earthquake occurred. It seems to me that time passes so quickly in some cases and so slowly in other cases. Thank you so much for the Canadian kids messages which have been encouraging us very much. Being supportedby many people around the world, we have been doing something to help Hisanohama areas get rebuilt as soon as possible.
As for me, I have been to Canada on my honeymoon. I vividly recall the beautiful scenes of the Vancouver, Banff, Calgary and Toronto even though I visited there 23years ago. I am looking forward to visiting Canada with my wife some day when we have gotten successfully through one big part of rebuilding Hisanohama areas.

2011.3月、知っての通り日本、特に東北は世界に類を見ない程の震災に遭遇致しました。死者・行方不明者合わせて約２万人近い犠牲者がでました。そうした心沈んでいる中、このような素晴らしい心のこもったメッセージ、絵を送っていただき大変嬉しく、又、大変力強く感じました。
カナダはメープルの木で有名な国と聞いています。
私が一生に一度行ってみたい国はカナダです。
今日本では、同じ国内に住んでいる人からも瓦礫の受け入れを断られ、なかなか復興が進みません。悲しい話です。
そんな中、世界にはこのカナダの子どもたちのような心の温かい人がいることにとても感謝いたします。
やがて素晴らしい人間になるでしょう。
とても心の励みになりました。

On March 11, Tohoku suffered from the disaster which hardly occurs at any other places in the world. The number of the killed and the missing has reached up to about 20,000. We are really grateful to you for those beautiful and heartfelt messages. We have been encouraged and happy by viewing them after being so hopeless. I have heard that Canada is famous for its maple trees. Canada is one of the countries I am looking forward to visiting once in my life. We are troubled that no local government are willing to accept the rubble from Fukushima due to the fear of radioactivity. It has prevented us from rebuilding the areas. I think it is a sad story. On the other hand, I appreciate it very much that there are warm kids like the Canadian kids in the world. I guess they will be grown up to be honorable gentlemen and ladies. The quilts were a great encouragement to me.

Thank you so much for the tapestry. The love and the care from the Canadian kids messages gives us a warm, though it has still been cold here in Hisanohama, I hope the relationship and friendship between Canada and Japan (Hisanohama) will deepen more and more through the tapestry being a part of patchwork for the both countries.
